Valerie  Bernard

My primary philosophical interests are in ethics, phenomenology, existentialism and the French philosophical tradition. The philosophers that intrigue me the most are Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, Emmanuel Levinas and Jacques Derrida. I come to philosophy with a minor in French literature and previous degrees in History (BA, Carleton) and Labour Studies (MA, McMaster). I studied philosophy and French literature at the University of New Brunswick in my hometown of Fredericton. Outside of my academic pursuits, I have a deep interest in astronomy, personal psychology and eastern spirituality.
