Dominic Alford-Duguid wins 2016 Savan Dissertation Prize
Professor Mark Kingwell, Director of Graduate Studies, announced that Dr. Dominic Alford-Duguid has been selected as the 2016 winner of the David Savan Dissertation Prize, which is awarded to the best dissertation defended during the past calendar year. The award carries a cash prize of $1,000 as well as this formal recognition.
The prize citation mentions “originality, rigour, and good writing” as the relevant criteria for the award, and the committee found all of these in ample measure in Dom’s dissertation “Getting Properties in Mind,” supervised by Prof. Imogen Dickie. Thanks also to the selection committee of Profs. James Allen and Jonathan Weisberg.
Congratulations to Dom, who is currently doing a 2-year SSHRC postdoctoral fellowship at King’s College, London!
