Speaker:  John Morrison (Barnard)

Talk Title:  Perceptual Confidence: 1st-personal and 3rd-personal evidence

Talk Abstract: Perceptual Confidence is the view that perceptual experiences assign degrees of confidence. After introducing and clarifying Perceptual Confidence, I will motivate it using both 1st-personal and 3rd-personal evidence. I will then catalogue some of its more interesting consequences, such as the way it blurs the distinction between veridical and illusory experiences, and fills a hole in our best scientific theories of perception.
